The MRT is the budget champion: take the East-West Line from Changi to Tanah Merah, transfer to city-bound service, then alight at Orchard station - total cost SGD 2.50 ($1.85), journey time 45-55 minutes. Public bus services exist but require transfers and take 60+ minutes.
Choose a taxi or transfer when you have luggage, arrive late (after 11pm when MRT frequency drops), travel with family, or simply value comfort after a long flight.
