Transport Options

MRT East-West Line to City Hall, then transfer to Downtown Line for Bayfront station — about 35 minutes total, SGD 2. Taxis cost SGD 25–35 ($18–25) including airport surcharge. Grab costs SGD 20–30 ($15–22). A pre-booked transfer costs $30–40 with meet-and-greet.

When Is a Taxi or Transfer the Best Choice?

The MRT is best for solo travelers during operating hours. For groups of 2+, a taxi is often cheaper per person. Late at night (after midnight), only taxis and pre-booked transfers are available. Singapore taxis are 100% honest.

Tips for This Route

• The MRT doesn't run midnight–5:30 AM. Night bus NR1 from the airport costs SGD 4.50 but is slow.
• Gardens by the Bay light show (Garden Rhapsody) runs at 7:45 PM and 8:45 PM — free and spectacular.
• Marina Bay Sands infinity pool is hotel guests only. The observation deck (SkyPark) is open to the public for SGD 26.
• The 12-minute walk from Bayfront MRT to MBS through Gardens by the Bay is one of Singapore's most scenic city walks.
