Bophut is one of Samui's most charming north coast villages, famous for its restored Fisherman's Village with wooden Chinese shophouses, boutique hotels, and weekly Walking Street market. Just 4 km from the airport, it's the closest major beach area, making it one of the easiest transfers on the island. The route runs along the coast road past Bang Rak beach, taking 10-15 minutes in normal traffic. Bophut attracts travelers seeking character over flash - expect quieter beaches, independent restaurants, and a more laid-back vibe than Chaweng.

Airport taxis operate from the official counter outside arrivals with fixed prices to Bophut around 300-400 baht ($8-12). Unlike mainland Thailand, Koh Samui has no ride-hailing apps - Grab and Bolt don't operate here. Pre-booked private transfers cost 400-600 baht ($12-18) and include meet-and-greet. Shared songthaew trucks (converted pickups) run from the airport perimeter for 100-150 baht per person but aren't convenient with luggage and require waiting for passengers.
