Makati is Manila's premier business and nightlife district, with high-rise hotels, malls and the famous Poblacion bar scene. Despite being just 7 km from NAIA, the journey can take 20 minutes or over an hour depending on Manila's legendary traffic. NAIA is notorious for taxi scams — the infamous "broken meter" trick, overcharging and aggressive touts. Grab or a pre-booked transfer is strongly recommended.
| Option | Price (est.) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-booked transfer | $8–15 | Fixed price, meet & greet, door-to-door |
| Metered taxi | $3–8 (metered) | Variable — depends on traffic and surcharges |
| Ride-hailing app | $3–6 | Upfront pricing, may have surge |
Yellow airport taxi (metered, more expensive but relatively honest): PHP 200–400 ($3–7). White metered taxi: PHP 150–300 ($3–5) but drivers often refuse the meter. Grab: PHP 150–300 ($3–6). Coupon taxi counter: PHP 300–500 ($5–9). Pre-booked transfer: $8–15.
Grab is the best option for most travelers — upfront pricing, GPS tracking and no scam risk. A pre-booked transfer adds meet-and-greet, which is valuable in NAIA's chaotic terminals. The yellow airport taxis are acceptable but more expensive than Grab. Avoid white metered taxis at NAIA.
Grab works at all four NAIA terminals. Pickup points are designated but can be confusing. The app shows the exact location. Expect 5–15 minute wait times during busy periods.
