Hoi An is the most charming town in Vietnam - a UNESCO-listed ancient trading port with lantern-lit streets, tailor shops, cooking classes and a car-free old town center. The 30 km journey from Da Nang Airport takes 35–50 minutes along the coastal road. There is no train or bus connection. A taxi, Grab or pre-booked transfer are the only options, and all are affordable.

No public transport runs from Da Nang Airport to Hoi An. Metered taxis cost 350,000–500,000 VND ($14–20). Grab costs 200,000–300,000 VND ($8–12). A pre-booked transfer costs $10–16 with meet-and-greet. Some hotels offer free or subsidized airport pickup.
A pre-booked transfer is the most convenient option because there is no public transport. Grab is the cheapest but requires a Vietnamese SIM or roaming data. For first-time visitors arriving at night, a pre-booked driver holding your name at arrivals is worth the small premium.

Pre-booked transfers include flight tracking - the driver waits regardless of how long the delay is, at no extra cost. Metered taxis are always available at Da Nang (DAD) but queues can be long during peak arrival times, and counters may close for late-night flights.

Plan for 35–50 min to cover the 30 km under normal conditions - rush-hour traffic in Da Nang can stretch that by another 20-30 minutes. With a pre-booked transfer your flight is tracked, so the driver adjusts to your actual arrival time.

Usually enough to get you there: pre-booked drivers are screened for basic English, while metered taxi drivers vary from fluent to phrasebook level. A Google Maps pin or the address in local script solves most misunderstandings before they happen.
