Ola and Uber dominate app-based options, with Ola Prime/Uber Go priced at ₹450-600 and Ola Lux/Uber Premier at ₹700-900. Pre-booked private transfers run ₹900-1,400 and include meet-and-greet service. The Vayu Vajra AC bus (KIAS-9 route) costs ₹250 and stops near MG Road, taking 75-90 minutes. BMTC airport shuttle operates to Majestic, requiring a connection. Auto-rickshaws don't service the airport officially.
Book a taxi for late arrivals after 11 PM when buses stop running, early morning departures before 6 AM, or when carrying heavy luggage through MG Road's crowded shopping district. Both work, but they solve different problems. The taxi rank at Bangalore (BLR) is fine when you are flexible on price; a pre-booked transfer is better when you want a fixed fare, a driver holding your name sign and a paper trail. Whatever you choose, decline any driver who approaches you inside the terminal.
Usually enough to get you there: pre-booked drivers are screened for basic English, while metered taxi drivers vary from fluent to phrasebook level. A Google Maps pin or the address in local script solves most misunderstandings before they happen.
